I have my storage SSDs set to persist (both Boot disk and attached disk) and so, it would stay across destructive events as you rightly said.
I came across something similar where I was not able to delete the PVC provisioned by Dgraph and it got stuck. I tried force deleting and it didn’t work. Then I removed the finalizers from the PVCs and then I was able to delete the PVCs. But anyways, I don’t think that is related to this.
